Default Henchmen in Missions?

Personally, I find traveling with real people tends to be headache inducing, not only because of the tendency for less-than-prudent tactical decisions, but the incredibly impatient attitude of most of the gamers...

Getting past the background though, I have not ONCE been able to enter a mission with henchmen only. I've heard of people "solo-ing" missions just with henchmen, but I've been kicked out of the mission halfway through loading each and every time I've tried to enter one (with a henchmen only group) and deposited back into town.

Does anyone else have this problem? Are you suppose to only be able to enter missions with real players? I don't believe so, but if it isn't a general restriction... I suppose I'll be paying support a visit.

Im speaking from experience here so this is my opinion, people may find their results to be different. Henchmen can get you ANYWHERE in the game for all the quests EXCEPT for Ember Light Camp (the last stand i think its called where you kill the white mantle leaders) since the hydras own the henchies and all the missions EXCEPT ring of fire. In the ring of fire mission the henchies get stuck in the lava and follow me into the range of the mursaat towers so the monks get their energy drained and my whole party dies. Other than that, henchies are loyal, they listen, and they are now infused

As for the problem of not being able to enter missions with henchies, thats weird. The only place you cant enter with henchies is UW and FOW. Sounds like a bug.

Hope this helped.

I'd suggest playing support a visit as what your experiencing is a bug.

i've done every mission (up to and including Divinity Coast - yeah yeah I know I'm not finished yet ) with henchies, and gotten the bonuses with a few of them as well.

So you can do misions with henchies thats what they were put there for! - They were pout there to fill out groups if you couldn't, or don't want to, fill out your group with people. Lets you have a full group and play solo if you want.

I know I probably wouldn't be playing GW if I was forced to play wth people :P

I think it was around 1-2 weeks after lauch before the first postings appeared that someone had henched ALL the missions. Since that many have done the same, including myself (I've also done all the quests). There are also several detailed walkthroughs around for troublesome spots. Now, there may be some bonuses that are not possible, e.g., Dunes of Despair but those exceptions should be very few (edit: just read that someone had completed this bonus with hench - so I guess all are possible). I've done all bonuses up to Elona and will start in the S Shiverpeaks when I've energy. Personally I'd say that the clearly most difficult to hench was Thirsty. In fact it probably would take up the first 5 spots in my list of difficult missions, followed by T Keep.

Also, if you want to use only hechies, your choice of profession is quite important. A warrior is tricky since you draw the whole team into the heat when you attack (non-melee henchies follow you). As a ranger the battles become easier to control (e.g., I've have no problem in the lava fields)

Finally, I have no clue what your problem is Avantos - but I can assure you it has not anything to do with entering with henchies..

I have had the problem with being kicked back into towns alot before, its nothing to do with the Henchman. And I suggest using them :P Real people give you headaches as you said, you also get better loot And they follow you and attack the same target

Thanks for the responses. I've sent a notice to support and I'll post their answer here after I get it--just in case anyone else has this problem too.

However, shadow_wolf232, if your problem wasn't with henchmen, by any chance do you know where your problem was and how you fixed it?

My issue has been resolved by support, within 4 hours, I might add.

Hello Avantos,

Can you verify that your PC meets the minimum specs (http://www.plaync.com/games/guild_wars.html) for Guild Wars? In addition, please be certain that you have:

1) The most up-to-date Video Drivers provided for your Video Card

2) Have DirectX 9.0C installed (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dir...ds/default.htm)

3) You have your Version of Windows completely up-to-date. This includes visiting: http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co....aspx?ln=en-us downloading & installing all the "Critical Updates" (including Service Packs) provided by Microsoft. If these measures do not resolve your issue, please let me know

Regards,

GW-Tech Support

Upon updating to DirectX 9.0C from 9.0B and installing the updates, I was not only able to enter the mission, but do so with unprecedented speed.

I normally steel myself against swearing, but I personally feel like bursting out screaming and cussing for all the aggravation I had trying to deal with... unpleasant... groupmates.

Hope this helps anyone else with this problem.

I love henchmen. I really don't understand what it is with the general population of GW being unable to slow down, communicate, and listen to directions. I've noticed things got much worse when I hit the crystal desert. But, my henchmen have gotten me to every town and through several missions so far. Who cares if I die a few times?
